The pack is a view, not a project
Leadership asks the same questions every cycle: how many events, how severe, where, what we changed, and whether those changes held. When those answers require a reconstruction, two things happen. The pack is late. And nobody can defend a number without calling the person who built the file.
Day-to-day printing in Intellilox Incident and Actions lives on the screens people already use. Print this item (the record). Print the filtered list (the executive pack / action register). Report Designer is the admin layout tool — not the weekly job.
Filters that must match the register
- Manager — the assigned owner.
- Area — location.
- Date range — when it occurred, falling back to created-at when the occurrence timestamp is missing, so a year-to-date pack matches the reporting period rather than the day someone typed the row.
If the PDF does not honour those filters, it is a different report pretending to be the one on screen.
What belongs in the executive pack
- Period and scope — which sites, which dates, which managers. No ambiguity about what was included.
- Counts that mean something — totals, open versus closed, severity or outcome (including near miss and serious-injury risk, not only lost time).
- Systemic findings — contributing factors that recur: machinery, LOTO, guarding, competency, communication. A list of titles is not a finding.
- CAPA status — owned actions, overdue work, whether effectiveness was reviewed.
- A path back to the record — the pack is a summary. The incident remains the system of record.
What does not belong
A screenshot gallery of dashboards with no period. A table of every comment. Vanity totals that mix drafts with published work. Anything that would show a confidential incident to a wider audience than the reporter, owner, and administrators.
How to test yours this week
Open the register. Set manager, area, and date to the last pack you issued. Print. If you cannot do that in the tool you use today, the next board meeting is already a reconstruction — whether or not anyone has named it that.
